Become Involved In Important Chamber Programs

As a Chamber member, you are encouraged to become involved in YOUR Chamber and YOUR community!  One of the best ways to do that is by serving on a Chamber council or committee.  You will make a difference, but you will also make new friends and new business contacts!

CHAMBER COUNCILS

CIVIC & GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS COUNCIL
Vice Chair: Scott Shamburger
Mission: To serve as a proactive advocate for the business community and members on issues, obstacles and strategies regarding civic and governmental affairs.


CONSERVATION & NATURAL RESOURCES COUNCIL
Vice Chair: Ginny Barnas
Mission: To preserve and enhance the natural resources of the Alabama Gulf Coast
through education and communication.


ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL
Vice Chair: Yolanda Devine Johnson
Mission: To foster cooperation and progress among the Chamber, BCEDA, City of Gulf
Shores and City of Orange Beach on economic development activities.

EDUCATIONAL AFFAIRS COUNCIL
Vice Chair: Michelle Nelson
Mission: To position the Chamber to excel in its role as champions of education.


FINANCE COUNCIL
Vice Chair: Tracie Sweat
Mission: To ensure the availability of capital resources.

MARINE TRADES COUNCIL
Vice chair: Vince Lucido
Mission: To protect the Marine Trades Industry on the Alabama Gulf Coast.


MEMBERSHIP COUNCIL
Vice Chair: Susan Sizemore
Mission: To encourage, strengthen, and retain membership.


RETAIL & BUSINESS SERVICES COUNCIL
Vice Chair: Cynthia Tunnell
Mission: To provide leadership and counseling to area retailers and businesses to help
increase stability and growth.

TOURISM & SPECIAL EVENTS COUNCIL
Vice Chair: Jennifer Blanchard
Mission: To produce events encouraging tourism.



OTHER ACTIVITIES

ANNUAL NATIONAL SHRIMP FESTIVAL
(Time commitment and other restrictions will apply for full committee members. However, you may serve as a Shrimp Festival Volunteer without serving on the full committee. If you are intrested in serving in this area, please call Ann VonEberstein at the Chamber at  251.968.7220)
Vice Chair: Matt Mogan
Mission: To produce the Annual National Shrimp Festival.

CHAMBER AMBASSADORS COMMITTEE (Chamber Members Only)
Application Required
The Ambassadors are just what their name implies!  They represent our Chamber and serve as critical links between the Chamber and its members.  They participate at ribbon-cuttings, ground-breakings,  assist at Chamber events such as Business After Hours and First Friday Forum, and work on our membership drive.


COASTAL CHRISTMAS TASK FORCE
This group helps to plan and implement our annual Coastal Christmas series of events, designed to promote our community as a holiday destination for travel and shopping.

ISLAND SPIRIT COMMITTEE (Chamber Members Only)
This committee oversees the work of one of our Chamber's signature projects -- the monthly Island Spirit Award.  They promote the program and they assist with the selection and recognition of the recipients.

WOMEN IN BUSINESS (Chamber Members Only)
This committee helps to promote  networking and success among women in business.
