Although Mother Nature has so generously bestowed upon us our beautiful beaches, land, and bodies of water, we are convinced that what distinguishes the Alabama Gulf Coast is its People. In recognition of this, a special award was created in the mid 1980’s to demonstrate our appreciation to those people who contribute to the wonderful lifestyle we enjoy. That special Recognition is

 

The Island Spirit Award

 

The Island Spirit Award is given monthly to an individual who works on the island and displays an attitude of concern, warmth, and hospitality to those they serve. We are looking for nominees who most often have direct contact with customers and visitors to the island. They have been waiters, waitresses, service station attendants, bank tellers, receptionists, police officers, grocery clerks, etc. Any individual working on Alabama’s Gulf Coast including Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Fort Morgan, Ono Island qualify. Recipients cannot benefit financially for their actions and are not usually owners or persons in high levels of management.

The Island Spirit Award includes the placement of the recipient’s name on a rotation plaque, a cash reward, an article with picture in our local newspaper, a custom made ‘Island Spirit’ pin, and of course the appreciation of all who love this Island paradise.
